On Wednesday, 24 September, McCain threatened to pull out of the debates unless congress reached an agreement on the bailout. He then cancelled an appearance on the Letterman show to do another show in New York, flew to Washington on Thursday, then debated in Friday without an sort of agreement being reached on the bailout.
