The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN is, according to their website, "a non-profit, non-partisan social justice organization" [1], yet has been mired in the controversy connected with the collapse of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the fall of 2008.
