A rant is a monologue, usually spontainous, in speech or in text, characterised by 'on the fly' production. A typical rant has little internal consistancy, is inconsistant, frequently changes topics and leave points unaddressed and includes personal attacks on an opponent or opponents. Though often considered a sign of poor thinking, occasional ranting can function as a form of stress relief.
