In 2004, Andy Martin was the first person to suggest that Barack Obama is secretly a Muslim, and claimed to have evidence of this, although he did not make any evidence available to the public.[1][2][3] Shortly before the 2008 Presidential Election, Martin was interviewed by CNN, at which time he retracted his claim that Obama is or had been a Muslim, thus contradicting his previous claim to have had conclusive evidence about this. Martin claimed instead to have new evidence that Obama is the son of Frank Marshall Davis (1905-1987), a black journalist and left-wing activist, but again Martin presented no evidence to corroborate his claim.[4]
