Fanfare for the Common Man is a piece by American composer Aaron Copland. It is widely considered to be one of the most recognizable pieces of 20th century American classical music. The work was written in 1942 for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra under conductor Eugène Goossens.
It was premiered on 12 March 1943.
The title of the piece was referred to by Goosens as "as original as its music."
