The federal government was not very efficent during the aftermath of Katrina, but as the size of the organization increases, the inefficiency decreases. Irresponsibly, however, must be laid at the feet of local and state government.

Why didn't Mayor Nagin have an effective evacuation plan in place? Why weren't the school buses used for evacuation, or at least moved to higher ground? Nagin failed badly, but in his defense I suppose one does grow complacent after awhile. A real leader would have accepted rsponsibility for his failure.

Now to the state level. I heard the telepnone call between Blanco and GW. Yes, she really did say "give me all you've got". That is terrible substitution for a documented request from her emergency coordinator. Why did she forbid the military from coming in for so long. Why was the state guard not on alert. Yeah, I heard the press say they were all in Iraq, but they dropped that line pretty quick. I'd like to know the real figures on what per cent were actually unavailible due to service in Irag. Blanco was either incompetent, playing poitics or both.

And does anyone really believe that a failed infrastucture, in an Democratic state which boasts (or at least used to) the most corrupt state government in the history in the US, is somehow GW's fault? If so, I'd like to hear the logic. .User:barker1949/barker1949 16 Jan 2008 (EDT)

Not so much that the Bus was to blame for Katrina, but the bush family acted racist and irresponsibly after the event, and the government did very little to prevent it from becoming the huge disaster it was. Example, Bush said nobody knew the levys would break, but actualy, all that prevoius week it said they would. Delamancha 08:36, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

Should the Virginia Tech incident be considered a Terrorist attack that occured in the homeland? Should it be considered a major terrorist attack?Rebiu 11:49, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Since in the eyes of the conservatives, there is nothing redeeming about those Liberals, I suppose in the eyes of Liberals, everything is Bush's fault. Something just occurred to me, we are perfectly polarized and talk past one another. Time for someone else to take over. User:Seekcommon

That is not really funny. GWB is a solid conservative and a shining example of what a conservativly lead world can beRebiu 11:54, 23 April 2007 (EDT)

In the words of this most highly intelligent Prsident, 'if this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator...having proven his obvious 'Political Tact' and 'ambition' (note the inverted commas) I must say that this is not really something to joke about. Though I must say...in defence of Rebiu who I think is genious...Trashbat, why don't you just get a sense of humour and stop being so stiff...it was a disaster but even so, this is not serious so chill out mate. Cheers :) keep 'em coming Rebiu, v. good (User:bealecr) 16:43, 28 April 2007 (EDT)

Not Many Are Claiming it Is

I've not seen many people directly blaming President Bush. I do see many conservatives like Rush Limbaugh bending over backwards to blame liberals and even the liberal arts department where Cho studied, even though his instructors seem to have done everythiing they could. --PF Fox 12:23, 23 April 2007 (EDT)

No one is to blame

Things just happen, the need to blame, the need to find a cause, and the need to go over it again and again and again, and to create some sort of grand community response is actually a phenomenon I am really curious about. I have started a project to examine these themes in more detail, anyone interested in contributing or exploring (its wiki and forum based) should check out [1] (WARNING: Its not conservapedia, there are examples of strong language, evolutionary thought, and atheistic themes so you know if you should stay out or not). Blame the media and a crueler society Delamancha 08:34, 30 October 2007 (EDT)

Crazy!

Ridiculous if people think the President is to blame. Everyone wants someone else to blame for their own failures. If anyone is to "blame" (and it's hard to say if there is) it would be the close friends and family of this young man. We all have a responsability to look out for those GOD puts into lives. The fact that people are all blaming President Bush is wrong. Virginia Tech was definately not his fault. Hurracaine Katrina was alos not his fault. How could he have caused that? When hurracaine Katrina did happen, President Bush sent 30 million dollars to the governor to relieve the people of New Orleans. But the people only received 1 million! I wonder where that went? Hummmmmmmm well it was sent out from the government to the governor but didnt make it to the picture. Was it the governor? Duh..... he then blamed it all on President Bush. Man i hate it when all the democrats do this. They talk of preserving the country, but they are cutting it in half and serving it to the devil. So stop blaming you own President!!! dgj5 7:27, 7 November 2007
