Cristiano Ronaldo, complete name Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, is a Portuguese soccer player who plays for Manchester United in the English Premier League (EPL). He is currently regarded as one of the best players in the world, ranked 3rd in the FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2007. During the 2007-08 season, he collected numerous awards for his skill, including the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Players' and Fans' Player of the Year (for the second consecutive year)[1], and the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year[2] in the UK. He was also top scorer in both the UEFA Champions' League[3] and EPL[4], with a total of 42 goals in all competitions for the season.

While his first name Cristiano is common among devout Christian families, his second name, Ronaldo, is in honor of Ronald Reagan, who is admired by Conservatives in Europe too.
