The Seventh-Day Adventist Church [1] is a Christian denomination of millions who follow the teachings of the Bible rather than human authority (Mark 7:9) and emphasize:
- Observance of Saturday, not Sunday, as the Sabbath (to keep the 4th commandment--Exodus 20:9/Deuteronomy 5:13 and following the practice of God resting on the seventh day of creation--Genesis 2:1-3)
- Social work in the form of hospitals, schools and missionary work
- A return of Jesus Christ and an end to the world in the near rather than distant future
Seventh-Day Adventists believe in Annihilationism, the belief that the souls of the wicked are destroyed, rather than spending eternity in Hell.
History
The Seventh-Day Adventist movement came out of the Millerite movement. The Church was founded by Ellen White.
