As a noun, a tune is a melody; a succession of notes that can be said to "make sense" to the aural sensitivity of the listener. It can also refer to a song, even if that song contains more than one melody.
As a verb to tune means to bring into proper intonation. (As in "tune a piano", or "sing in tune".)
