A same-sex couple is two people (both male or both female) who "live together" or "cohabitate" in the same way as other (heterosexual) unmarried couples. A major public relations campaign has been ongoing since the 1990s to make people accept such couples as "married".
Argument used to justify same-sex unions are that society tolerates men and women living as boyfriend and girlfriend, so why not boy-boy or girl-girl? Christians have not provided a convincing answer, so gay rights activists have made great inroads with this approach.
