Orval Hobart Mowrer (1907-1982) was a professor of psychology at the University of Illinois (1948-1975). He is remembered in part for his anti-modernist Christian-friendly views and his disappointment in the modernist movement that found in the mainline Presbyterian Church; see his book The Crisis in Psychiatry and Religion (1961).
