-==The History of Gay Marriage==
-Gay marriage was first put forth as a serious, political ideal in France shortly before the outbreak of World War II in September 1939. René Felícruea was a prominent Parisian historian and avid atheist who had fallen in love with a Jewish boy that attended a local synagogue. Felícruea is purported to have seen the young boy going to-and-from the synagogue every day, and the two started up a cheerful friendship that last until the boy turned eighteen. At this point, the two had begun admitting feelings for one another, but local laws and customs forbade them from marrying. Felícruea petitioned the powers in Paris to allow the marriage, but his petition went unheard. Felícruea purportedly died during the German invasion. The details and name of his young lover have remained a mystery.{{fact}}
