Christopher Christie (born September 6, 1962) is a Republican candidate for Governor of New Jersey in 2009. Previously he served as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey from 2001-2008, where he is best known for succusfully prosecuting New Jersey politicians. He won convictions or guilty pleas from over 130 public officials, without losing a single case.

Christopher Christie is pro-life.

"I believe in the sanctity, dignity and inherent value of all human life. Hearing the heartbeat of my unborn daughter 14 years ago had a profound effect on me. I am pro-life because I believe her life and the life of every child is precious." [1]

2009 Gubernatorial Campaign

In the Republican primary, Christie is running against former mayor Steve Lonegan, who is considered more conservative out of the two. Although both candidates agree on most issues such as the need to downsize state government, reduce tax rates, reform education and have restrictions on abortion, Lonegan has won support from grassroots conservatives for his support for a flat income tax, where Christie simply supports reducing taxes across the board.

Public opinion polls show Christie comfortably ahead of both Lonegan in the primary and incumbent Democrat Governor Jon Corzine in the general election. [2]
