:::Sorry for taking so long to respond, Addison. Exams tend to do that to a person. I see what you're saying about self-defense, and that's a legitimate argument; however, I do indeed feel that a lot of wars on the parts of many countries are unjust, the US included. A lot of American wars are waged for reasons that are more self-centered than anything else. I mean, the Iraq War was started as a reaction to information that the Bush Administration mostly made up. You could say the Iraq War was more for oil than anything else, although I will admit that's debatable.
:::You can't really say that the US is entering wars for altruistic, world peace-fostering reasons. What about the hundreds of countries with fewer political freedoms than existed in Iraq? Why was there so little US involvement in the Somali or Rwandan civil wars?
:::Even wars where the US is making some sort of effort to protect itself or solve problems aren't very just at all, considering that the US hardly tries other options. The US doesn't try very hard to find diplomatic solutions to problems. The US can't just do whatever it pleases, become involved in wars because other countries are pissed at them, and then call such wars just.
