Passive smoking, or second-hand smoking, is the inhaling of tobacco fumes exhaled by other smokers. It has been shown to cause lung cancer[Citation Needed] and is the reason for the smoking ban in many public areas.
The EPA calls environmental tobacco smoke a Group A carcinogen, asserting that it is "responsible for approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths annually in U.S. nonsmokers." [1]
