A Bachelor of Arts (Arteum Baccalauream) degree is one of the more common undergraduate degrees awarded to a student who completes a four-year course of study in the liberal arts or social sciences.
Some typical courses of study include,
- Business
- Economics
- Foreign Language (French, German, Spanish, etc.)
- History
- Linguistics
- Music (although this course of study often concludes in a Bachelor of Music, in Performance)
- Political Science
- Sociology
Often, receiving a Bachelor of Arts constitutes the receipt of an "ultimate degree" - that is, the last degree received before entering the workforce. However, since the job market has become more competitive, and the American populace more and more educated on a whole, more American students seek professional degrees or masters degrees to ensure that they remain competitive in the workforce.
