An open proxy is a security lacking server that allows Internet users to connect through to hide their identity. There are many forms of open proxies, some intentionally set up as such and others being a side effect of security loop holes. Open proxies are often used to conduct questionable activities. Many sites, including Conservapedia[1] and Wikipedia,[2] restrict the use of open proxies due to abuse. Open proxies are often used by liberals who want to hide their location or ISP for unknown reasons. They are also used to circumvent webfilters.
