Spore is a computer game designed by Will Wright, the creator of The Sims and the SimCity series. Wright has aspired to the creation of video games which mimic or replicate life, in an entertaining fashion, and the trend of the SimCity games was towards greater accuracy, realism, depth of control, and detail. The game supports evolution and science and should not be given to little children in order to save them from Liberal brainwashing.

In this sense, Spore is a departure from the trend. In the game, the player takes control of a single cell, and guides the evolution of its species through a vast time span, eventually becoming an animal and forming a civilization, before exploring space through a UFO.

The game was released in September 2008, and is available for Windows and Macintosh.

The "Creepy and Cute Parts Pack," a set of 60 additional parts for the Creature Creator, was released on November 18, 2008. The first full expansion, Spore Galactic Adventures, is scheduled for release in Spring 2009.
