Python is a high-level programming language created by Guido van Rossum in 1991. It is a multi-paradigm language with a fully dynamic type system and automatic garbage collection.
The most popular implementation of Python is the CPython implementation maintained by the Python Software Foundation. Currently developed under an open source model and licensed under its own Python Software Foundation License, CPython is a byte-code interpreter that comes with a rich library that includes modules for creating graphical user interface, relational database, arbitrary precision arithmetic, complex arithmetic, unit testing, regular expression, XML parsing, C/C++ interfacing and zip compression; combined, these features makes it a powerful glue language between lower-level machine languages and higher level languages and programs. Other popular Python implementations include Jython, written in Java, and IronPython, for Microsoft's .NET framework.
