The '''Democratic Party of Japan''' (''Minshu-to'') is the current ruling party of [[Japan]], having won in 2009 as a result of dissatisfaction with the center-right [[LDP]] and its then-Prime Minister, [[Taro Aso]]. It is a center-left party, but advocates a free-market enterprise, in contrast to the [[Socialist Party of Japan]], Japan's other left-wing party. The current head is [[Yukio Hatoyama]], who is now the current Prime Minister.
