'''Hela Cells''' are the first human [[cell line]] maintained in a laboratory and were derived from an ovarian tumor biopsy from Henrietta Lacks. They were taken with out permission and were delivered to a colleague of her doctor at Johns Hopkins who was attempting to generate a human cell line, he was successful in maintaining the cell line.
