Tommy Douglas was a Canadian Christian Minister and politican. He was a former leader of the NDP and was a strong proponent of universal healthcare. He was recently voted the Greatest Canadian of All Time. Douglas is credited with the implementation of universal healthcare in Canada. See : Canadian Healthcare. Said of Douglas "He pursued his radical ideas relentlessly until they became so mainstream rival politicians claimed them as their own".
He is the grandfather of Kiefer Sutherland, star of 24[1].
