Claude Shannon (April 30, 1916 – February 24, 2001) was an American electrical engineer and the father of modern communications theory.[1] He is credited as one of the founders of information theory, especially due to his writing of "A Mathematic Theory of Communication" in 1948, widely considered one of the most important founding documents of information theory.
