Tin(II) sulfate, also known as stannous sulfate, is a chemical compound. Its chemical formula is SnSO4. It contains tin and sulfate ions. The tin is in its +2 oxidation state.
Properties
Tin(II) sulfate is a white solid. It is one of the only tin(II) compounds that cannot be oxidized to tin(IV). It reacts with bases to make tin(II) oxide hydrate, which is white.
Preparation
It is made by dissolving tin in sulfuric acid. Reacting copper sulfate with tin also makes tin(II) sulfate.
