A sexually transmitted disease caused by the organism Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It can be spread by oral, vaginal, or anal intercourse. In women, the symptoms can range from none, to a foul vaginal discharge, to a serious abdominal infection known as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). This can lead to infertility.
