Template:Science-stub Atomic mass is the scientific term for the weight of an atom. It is generally the sum of the number of protons and neutrons in an atom. the atomic mass is not always exact, as many periodic tables do not take into account the mass of electrons in the atomic mass. The atomic mass is useful in determining what type of isotope a certain atom is.
