Bobby Ray "Bob" Etheridge (born August 7, 1941 in Sampson County, North Carolina) is a Democratic U.S. Representative from North Carolina's 2nd congressional district. He served in the North Carolina House of Representatives and the Superintendent of Public Instruction until his election to Congress in 1996. He currently serves on the House Budget Committee and House Ways and Means Committee.
Etheridge caused controversy in June 2010 after he was seen grabbing the wrist and neck of the unidentified man after he approached him and asked if he supported the "Obama agenda." Etheridge is then seen trying to snatch a cellphone camera out of the student's hands. He then grabs the man's wrist and refuses to let go. [1]
