The Belgian Shepherd (also known as the Belgian Sheepdog) is a breed of herding dog. There are three sub-breeds: the Malinois, the Laekenois, and the Tervuren.
The Belgian Malinois is a popular breed for military use, particularly special forces. One cross-breed that is especially popular with the military is the Malinois bred with a German Shepherd. It is rumored to be the breed of some of the dogs used on the mission to kill bin Laden.
