The phrase Revisionism has two primary uses:
- Historical revisionism - the act of coming up with a new "theory" of history that is disconnected(or even outright made up) from the original course of events. Historical revisionism is typically tied to a political agenda.
- Evolutionary socialism - In socialism, revisionism is a creed that rejects the idea of Revolutionary socialism and at times can use democratic means. However, any means is acceptable if it continues the progression away from liberty toward total government control of the means of production.
