The Utah Jazz is a National Basketball Association (NBA) team from Salt Lake City, Utah.
The team entered the NBA as a 1974 expansion team, the New Orleans Jazz, and moved to Utah in 1979 (still maintaining the team nickname, though it has no connection to the state).
The team made the NBA finals twice (1997 and 1998), losing to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls both times.
Retired Numbers
In addition to #6 (retired league-wide in honor of Bill Russell) the Jazz have retired the following numbers:

- #4 Adrian Dantley
- #7 Pete Maravich
- #9 Larry H. Miller (the long-time owner, he wore the number while playing professional softball)

- #32 Karl Malone
- #35 Darrell Griffith
- #53 Mark Eaton
