College Football Career
While attending the University of Tulsa Mills played tight end, fullback, H-back and backup long snapper. He was generally known as one of college footballs best tight ends during his playing time with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane's. In his 2005 senior season he broke the NCAA tight end record for receiving yards in a season when he had 87 receptions for 1,235 yards. Also in his senior season he was named an All American by ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated.com and CBS SportsLine.com. Garrett Mills was drafted by the New England Patriots in the forth round of the 2006 NFL draft.[1] In preseason action he caught 8 passes for 94 yards. On November 14, 2006, Mills was placed on the Patriots injury reserve list. On September 1, 2007, Mills was released from the Patriots after the completion of their 2007 training camp and preseason.[2] A day after being released from the Patriots, he was signed by the Minnesota Vikings.[3]
