Techno reached its peak during the mid 1990s with the growth of Detroit Techno. It remains popular to this day. Techno consists of a loud kick drum, usually in a 4x4 bar format, but can have other forms, with associated hi-hats. It is mostly heard in clubs and has gained popularity among Ecstasy users.
