Pygmies are tribal inhabitants of Africa who are known for their small size. The Mbuti of the Ituri Forest in Zaire are well known Pygmies. Living a stone age type existence, they usually travel together in groups of 50 to 100 and are nomadic hunters. Pygmies are less than 5 feet in height.[1]
The term pygmy is sometimes used in modern language to refer to one who is very short of stature. It is usually considered to be condescending.[1]
Pygmies have been the victims of Darwinian racism, which claimed that Pygmies are closer to apes than to Man. By denying that Pygmies, like all humans, descended from Noah and his family after they exited the Ark, Darwinists were able to dehumanize Pygmies and claim they were merely animals. In one case, a Pygmy named Ota Benga was kidnapped and placed on display alongside an orangutan at the Bronx Zoo in 1906.[2]
