The stories appeared in Stephens Media newspapers and on the "Saluting American Valor" website between Veterans Day 2009 and the year's end.
Since 2001, more than 1.9 million Americans have been deployed to war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, displaying the highest form of service to country. These stories tell of individuals who acted selflessly when thrust into life-or-death situations. The book was released Memorial Day, May 31, 2010.
