There are levels to excessive affinities that Grok is starting to pick up on that we can use so we're not accused of name-calling. For example, short of obsession there's preoccupation, over-interest and like I said, excessive affinity.
Contrawise, Grok has not picked up on the difference between restraint and repression. Another related word is inhibition. It means restraint of growth, but that's an equivocation, because some people "grow" more perverse.
