PRI stands for Partido Revolucionario Institucional, translated 'Institutional Revolutionary Party'. The PRI was organized in 1920, and remained the dominant political party in Mexico until the election of Vincente Fox in 2000.
It started almost as a communist party, but it slowly moved to the right until it embraced the free market. However, it was too late by then.
