In 1992, [[heavy metal]] [[musician]] Varg Vikernes burned down a number of churches. The motivation behind this occurrence appeared at the time to be rooted in [[Paganism]] and [[Satanism]].

In 1992, [[heavy metal]] [[musician]] Varg Vikernes was believed responsible for burning down a number of churches. The motivation behind this occurrence appeared at the time to be rooted in [[Paganism]] and [[Satanism]]. Vikernes was not convicted of this crime, however two years later he was jailed for murdering his friend Øystein Aarseth in another bizzare incident.
