The Federated States of Novorossiya is an independent state in Ukraine, that is internationally not recognized. It was officialy declared on May 24, 2014 and consists of the Republic of Donetsk and the Republic of Luhansk.
The name Novorossiya stands for New Russia and was first used in the 18th century, when Ukraine was a part of Russia.
