In 1971, the University of California Alumni Association cited Taylor for "Outstanding Achievement" and honored him at the school's homecoming. In 1985, he was similarly recognized by Tulane as an outstanding alumnus of the graduate school.<ref name=taylor/>
In 1996, Taylor donated $900 to the unsuccessful campaign for the [[United States House of Representatives]] waged by [[Francis C.
