The Wounded Knee Massacre is considered the last great battle between the United States Army and Native American forces. On December 29, 1890, the U.S. calvary tried to force some Lakota Sioux off their reservation in South Dakota to be transported to another reservation in Nebraska. In the ensuing fighting, over 150 Native Americans, including women and children, were killed, along with 25 U.S. soldiers.[1]
