Vernon Gale “Vern” Buchanan is currently the United States Representative for the 16th congressional district of Florida. He is a member of the Republican Party, having been first elected to the position in 2006 to represent the state's 13th congressional district.

In late July 2020, Rep. Buchanan joined 71 moderate and normally conservative Republicans in voting to remove Civil War-era statues.^[1] In 2021, he supported "gun control" measures in congress.^[2]
