On March 12, 2022, Russian forces combat tested for the first time the hypersonic Kinzhal (Daggar) missile against a NATO weapons storage facility at Deliatyn, Ukraine. A hypersonic missile can fly at 5 times the speed of sound (3,800 mph) and even greater. NATO, which has used the Ukraine conflict to showcase new weapons technology which only served to prolong the conflict and increase the death toll, at the time had no such operational equivalent nor defense against hypersonic missiles.
