A group of Orthodox Jewish American tourists at Milan’s Central Station brutally attacked by a 25-year-old Pakistani man while checking the train schedule. The attacker charged, punched, kicked one victim, and struck his head with a blunt metal ring. He shouted racist threats and insults in Italian, including “dirty[sic] Jews” and “you kill in Palestine, and I’ll kill you.” Bystanders intervened and called Railway Police, who restrained him as he continued repeating the phrases and “Allahu akbar.” The victim had a minor injury and was hospitalized. The attacker was charged with assault aggravated by racial hatred, admitted to the charges, attends a mosque regularly, is unemployed and homeless, and has a clean record. His public defender requested a lower sentence.
The victims, in traditional attire, were checking the departure board when the attacker lunged unprovoked, delivering multiple blows including a head strike with a metal ring. Bystanders restrained him until Railway Police arrived and handcuffed him, though he continued the slurs in custody. A judge authorized a fast-track trial due to the attack's brutality and the attacker's lack of remorse.
