Alice in Chains is a popular and influential rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1987. Unlike other grunge bands they owed more to its classic rock roots. They spawned hit singles such as "Rooster" and "No Excuses". Lead singer Layne Staley died in 2002 of a heroin overdose.
