The Gupta empire was one of the greastest empires of the world covering much of what is now northern India and Pakistan, ruled by the Gupta dynasty from A.D. 240 to A.D. 550
Contributions of the Gupta Empire
The Gupta empire contributed much to the world. The brilliant minds of the Gupta Empire invented much of Algebra, the concept of zero and infinity, the symbols for the numbers from 1 to 9. Gupta astronomers first proposed the theory that the earth was not flat, but was instead round and rotated on an axis. They made discoveries about gravity and the planets of the solar system. These ideas spread throughout the world through trade.
