The Cryogenian is the second part of the Neoprotozoic Era in the geologic system of classifying geologic formations. It follows the Tonian period and precedes the Ediacarian.
According to the mainstream view, the Cryogenian period was marked by two massive ice ages, one of which the Huronian glaciation may have covered the entire planet. Evolutionists believe that multicellular life did exist during this time period and the earliest animals were discovered from this period and were dated to about 700 million years ago.
