This book is the first published of the seven Chronicles of Narnia(1950).  It introduces prominent characters to the series such as Aslan, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy.  Four children (Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy) enter Narnia and with the help of Aslan, talking beasts, and other mythical creatures overthrow the evil White Witch.  It is no easy task and Aslan even puts his life on the line to save Edmund from the justice of the Witch.  In the end the four children are crowned Kings and Queens and eventually return to our World (namely England during World War II.)<ref> The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.
