The Democratic Unionist Party is the largest political party (in terms of its share of the popular vote) in Northern Ireland, and its leader, Peter Robinson, is First Minister of the devolved Northern Ireland government. The DUP is socially conservative and stands for maintenance of the union between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
