Because evolution has been so widely accepted by the scientific community to nearly the point of dogma, most institutions will look at person as rejecting the proper scientific method. Most institutions do this in order to maintain a consistent standard of acceptance. Perhaps history will vindicate those who do deny the theory of evolution, but until that happens, the rejection of those who do deny evolution is justified. If the theory that aliens created the world through panspermy was accepted like evolution is today, the review boards would also have to reject anyone who would deny the theory merely on the principle of valuing the scientific method. Tenure is essentially a near-total protection, and to give it indiscriminately would be a mistake.
