Ketchup (also: Catsup and Tomato Sauce) is a condiment made from tomatoes, sugar, salt, vinegar, and spices. Ketchup is commonly eaten with foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and French fries (potatoes).
The word ketchup is related to the Indonesian word ketjap, which simply refers to sauces (usually hot), or catsup, a term derived from Asian cookery, a sweet or briny sauce made from tomatoes.
